The Why Collection explores colour, contrast, and texture through a series of handcrafted statement bracelets. Each design is built around prominent focal beads framed by intricate beadwork and sparkling crystal accents, creating jewellery that is both decorative and distinctive. Unlike the flowing forms of the Ogalala Collection, Why embraces structure and symmetry. Repeated focal elements and carefully balanced colour palettes give each bracelet a strong visual identity while retaining the unmistakable handcrafted character of Black Agnes.

Why did I make this?
The Why collection takes its unusual name from the reaction to the very first bracelet I created in this style. Looking at the finished piece, the immediate thought was:
"Why did I make this?"
The original Why bracelet – the design that inspired the collection and gave it its name.
Fortunately, somebody else answered that question almost immediately by giving it a new home.
The name remained, and a collection was born.

Inspired by History
The Why Collection draws inspiration from the richly decorated jewellery of the late medieval and Tudor periods, where textured goldwork and ornamental detail created pieces full of depth and character.
Rather than reproducing historic jewellery, each bracelet reinterprets those influences using modern bead-weaving techniques, creating handcrafted designs that celebrate the past while remaining unmistakably contemporary.
